Drug Recall: Altaire Pharmaceuticals Eye Drops

Altaire Pharmaceuticals recently announced a voluntary recall on a number of over-the-counter eye drops. The company manufactures a number of different eye drop formulations, which are sold under different names as store-brand generics. This particular recall affects eye drops sold at Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS, and the products may be sold under a few different brand names. The recall is limited to a set of specific lot numbers that can be found on the bottles.

While there have been no reports of adverse events as a result of using this brand of eye drops, there may be a lack of sterility. Altaire announced the recall because of concerns with quality controls within a manufacturing facility, meaning some products sold by the company may not meet FDA sterility standards.
The affected products date back to 2017, so it is important to check your medicine cabinet for any of these products that may have been purchased in the last two years. Any adverse events should be reported to the FDA either by phone or online.
